Things to Do Differently

During the filming process I noticed some things that I would have done differently for next time. First off, we filmed the entire project in one day, which was difficult due to the lighting. We wanted it to be brighter out during the beginning of the film and darker towards the end to add to the creepiness of the scenes. Even though we filmed from 3pm to 7pm I felt that we were rushing with time due to how fast the sun set. Some scenes were brighter than others and the lighting was not consistent in scenes effecting continuity. If I could do it again, I would split filming over multiple days to reduce stress and dedicate darker scenes to one day. This would allow more time to perfect each scene and shot.

Looking back, I rented more equipment than necessary for the filming process. We ended up not using the large light or the dash-cam holder at all. The room's lighting was sufficient, and it wasn't too dark outside, so the large light was unnecessary. We didn't use the dash-cam holder because we couldn't figure out how it works and put it together. For next time, I will be more selective when renting equipment, only choosing items I know we will use and that I can easily assemble if needed. Doing this initial check will prevent bringing extraneous equipment on set.

Another thing I would do differently is not put all the pressure on myself. I have a tendency to take charge of situations and avoid trusting others, which negatively impacts me. I prefer handling tasks my own way due to having a clear vision. While beneficial at times, my distrust in others completing work to my standards often becomes detrimental. For example, my role during the production process was to help direct and act. Since I was in charge of drawing the designs for the storyboard, I had a good idea of what each scene had to be of and what angles/ transitions were needed. This made it easier for me to follow what was happening and direct what to do. I realized I was focusing too much on the details and wouldn't really trust my other teammates during this. Moving forward, I will strive to alleviate self-imposed pressures and place more trust in others during production.
